Update :11/13/2022
In this article, we are going to discuss, how to effectively use text message marketing for generating insurance leads.
You cannot market to someone if they don’t receive your message or offer. In today’s noisy world it is difficult to reach our target customers.
Emails have open rate of less than 20 %. Which means that approx 80% of your target audience will not get your message.
Social media channels are making it hard to reach customers organically.
No one is picking call from an unknown number, hence cold calling is not a viable option.
But one channel which is still pretty effective is text messaging. With an open rate of 80% + you are sure to reach most of your audience. So how should one use text messaging for generating insurance leads? Let’s discuss this next..
In simple words text message marketing is using text message as a channel for marketing and generating leads. It’s difficult to send a text message to hundreds or thousands of prospects, hence a text message marketing tool or software is required to achieve this objective.
First step is to create a list of contacts whom you can reach via text messaging. If you use email marketing for your business, you may be aware of the term list building. List building is to invite people to join your mailing list.
The same way you need to build your messaging list. You can add your existing customers to the list. You can run a giveaway or challenge. For more examples check out our article in the below link.
Once you get them in your messaging list you need to engage them via regular communication.
Text messaging can be effectively used to schedule an appointment with clients. It can also be used to send them reminder about the appointment.
If there is any natural calamity like hurricane or tornado happening in your customers’ area then you can use messaging to intimate them about the same. You can also tell them what they should do in case they have to raise a claim. You should also message them after such an event to make sure they are ok.
Send a message to clients/prospects during their special moments like birthday, anniversary.
A personal touch goes a long way in gaining trust and loyalty from customers.
Today people are more comfortable interacting over text messaging or messenger and you should provide this option on your website as well. Many insurance agencies have contact us form and contact numbers to call on their website but no way to interact over a text message.
Text message marketing is a good way to get reviews from customers. After customer had interaction with your insurance agency send them a text message asking them about their experience.
If they had a negative experience then you can follow up and try to address their concerns. If they had a positive experience then go ahead and ask for a review.
On similar lines, if they had positive experience with your agency then you can ask them for a referral.
Text message is a great way to share picture and screenshots when customer is interacting with your insurance agency. You can ask them to share the declaration page during the quoting process. You can also ask customers to take picture of their house or car or any document which you may require to quote or process a transaction.
Text message marketing for insurance is a great way to generate leads and serve your customers. It saves time for you and your customers and increases the chances of conversion.
